War and Peace

The book War and Peace was a masterpiece of literature written by legendary author Leo Tolstoy. The book is about five different families (the Bezuhovs, Dolkonskys, Rostovs, Kuragins, and Drubetskoys) as they try to survive Napoleon’s failed invasion of Russia during the year of 1812. War and Peace describes this violent and chaotic era in history with great detail. Tolstoy also expertly describes the several dozen characters that appear in this story, giving each of them their own personalities, strengths, and weaknesses. One problem with this book is that Tolstoy spent too much time on description, rather than continuing the plot. I would ultimately refer this novel to someone with a tolerance for lengthy books (it’s over 1,000 pages), complicated plots, and large amounts of descriptive writing.
