Martha Fairchild Scholarship Fund

   The Martha Fairchild Scholarship Award is a $1,000 one-time award for those enrolled in a college program full or part time leading to a Master’s degree in Library Science or a Bachelor’s degree in a field which promotes reading, i.e., library science or teaching.

      Application forms are available at New Fairfield High School or the New Fairfield Free Public Library website.   Applications for both high school students and/or community residents must be submitted by Friday, April 27, 2018.  Please check the Library’s website for more information or call 203.312.5679.

Adult Programs

  Friday Night Crafting Club, 6-8 pm.  Bring your project to the Library and take some time for yourself with fellow crafters.  This informal group meets in the Library’s lower level and requires no registration.

   Smart Business Workshop, Mondays, April 9, 23, 30, 6:15-8 pm.  Gain a basic understanding of the key steps for getting your business off the ground.  This workshop is presented by the SBA and Western CT SCORE.  For more information and to register, call Park and Rec at 203.312.5633.

   Knitting with Stana, Friday, May 11, 6 pm, Program Room.  If you’d like to learn to knit or need a refresher, this is the class to attend.  Registration opens April 27.

   Genealogy, Weds., May 16, 6:45-7:30 pm.  Karen Keeler will be available to assist with your ancestry search.  This group will meet in the Library’s Community Room.  Registration opens May 2.

   Friends of the Library Plant Sale, Sat., May 12, 10 am to 2 pm.  Just in time for Mother’s Day, this sale will take place rain or shine on the Library grounds. 

Programs for Children

      Wee Ones, Mondays, 10:30-11 am, Program Room.  Stories, music and movement with Ms. Janet for children ages 12-23 months.  Registration is required and opens April 23 for May’s session.  There will be no program on Monday, May 28.  

   Tales for Twos, Tuesdays, 10:30-11 am, Program Room.  Stories, music and crafts with Ms. Janet for children ages 24-35 months.   Registration is required and opens April 17 for May’s session.

   More Stories Please, Weds., 10:30 am, Program Room.  Stories and a craft with Ms. JoAnn for children ages three to five.  Registration is required for each month and opens April 18 for May’s session. 

   Drop-In Storytime/Stay and Play, Thursdays, 10:30-11am, Program Room.  Stories, music and movement for all ages with Ms. JoAnn every Thursday unless school is closed or delayed.  No registration is required but this group will not meet on 4/19.

   Sticky Jams Music Program, Thursday, April 19, 10:30-11:30 am, Program Room.  Child centered and interactive, this music class for young children ages six months to five years old features drums, play along instruments and bells.  Registration opened April 5.

   Earthplace, Friday, April 20, 2 pm, Program Room.  The mission of Earthplace is to educate the community about nature and the environment. This program will introduce children ages four and up to a variety of the Earthplace animals.  Registration opened April 6.

   Celebrate Star Wars Day, May the Fourth Be With You, Friday, 4:30 pm, Program Room.  Katie Stevenson will conduct a Star Wars related craft for children in grades two and up.  Registration opens April 20.

Program Note:  If New Fairfield Schools are delayed due to weather, there will be no morning programs.  If school is cancelled, all Children’s Programs are also cancelled for the day even if the library is still open.
