Derx Foundation

    New Fairfield Free Public Library is pleased to announce that we are the proud recipient of a $5,000 grant from the Robert G. and Marguerite M. Derx Foundation of New Fairfield, Connecticut.  This grant will go toward funding adult programs in the 2019 calendar year.  Please read our column or our website for upcoming programs.

Adult Programs


   Friday Night Crafting Club, 6-8 pm.  Bring your project to the Library and take some time for yourself with fellow crafters.  This informal group meets in the Library’s lower level and requires no registration.


Children’s Programs

   More Stories Please, Wednesdays, Program Room, 10:30. Children ages three to five will meet for stories and crafts with Miss JoAnn in January. Online registration is required for each month. On Wednesday, Feb. 13, children ages three to five may register separately for Music with Ms. Mel and Her Guitar! 

   Drop-In Storytime/Stay and Play, Thursdays, 10:30-11am, Program Room.  Stories, music and movement for all ages with Ms. JoAnn every Thursday unless school is closed or delayed.  No registration is required. 

   Drop-in Saturday Craft, 11 am to 4 pm, Children’s Library.  Children of all ages are welcome to come between the hours of 11 am to 4 pm to do a craft at their leisure.  No registration is required.

Take Your Child to the Library Day, February 2, 2019

   Saturday Storytime, Feb. 2, 11-11:30 am, Program Room.  Children of all ages may join kindergarten teacher, Ms. Hannan, for stories and fun.  Online registration opens Jan. 19th.

   Music for Little Superstars, Monday, Feb. 4, 10:30-11:30 am, Program Room.  Join Al deCant in this engaging, educational music and movement class for children ages 12-23 months. Online registration opens January 21.

   Tales for Twos, Tuesdays in February, 10:30-11 am, Program Room.  Stories, music and crafts with Ms. Heather for ages 24-35 months.  No Storytime on 2/19.  Online registration opens Jan. 22nd.

   Valentine’s Day Craft, Monday, Feb. 11, 4:30-5:30 pm, Program Room.  Children in  Kindergarten and up are invited to join Katie Stevenson for a special Valentine’s Day craft.  Online registration opens Jan. 28.

   Music with Ms. Mel and Her Guitar, Weds., Feb. 13, 10:30-11 am, Program Room.  Children ages three to five are invited to join Ms. Mel for music and fun at the library!  Online registration opens Jan. 30.

Program Closing Information:  If New Fairfield schools are delayed due to weather, there will be no morning programs.  If school is cancelled, all Children’s Programs will be cancelled for the day even if the Library is still open.
