High School Volunteers Needed

If it’s really hot outside, what better way is there to keep cool than by volunteering at the Library! Everyone in high school needs community service hours to graduate and they may be earned right here by helping us out with our summer reading program.  The Birth through Fifth Grade and the Sixth through Twelfth Grade programs begin June 24th and ends on August 2nd.   Our Birth through Fifth Grade program is run strictly by volunteers.  We can’t do this without you! Can you input information to a paper reading log?  Can you alphabetize?  Can you smile?  Volunteers are required to commit to a minimum of six hours over the course of the six weeks. Of course, giving even more of your time would be fantastic!  A one-hour training is mandatory.  Volunteers may select to attend one of the following dates: Tuesday, June 11, 3:30-4:30 pm; or Friday, June 14, 6:30-7:30 pm. Applications are available online through our website.  Call 312-5682 with any questions.

Summer Reading Program Begins June 24th!

Aliens, Monday, June 24, 1-2 pm.  This program for ages five to twelve is presented by Sciencetellers. During a midnight meteor shower, something mysterious falls from the sky toward earth—but it’s not a shooting star.  Two curious kids venture out into the forest to investigate and find themselves mixed up with a family of visitors from another planet! Pursued by a crazy space scientist, they must risk everything to rescue the aliens and get them back to their spaceship before it’s too late.  Don’t miss this action-packed and educational alien adventure using science experiments for special effects.  It’s totally out of this world!  Online registration opens June 10.
