Holiday Closing

   The Library will be closed on Monday, October 9 in observance of the Columbus Day holiday.  Please take this into consideration when planning to visit or calling for information.

***Registration for programs is required and opens two weeks before the event. ***

Adult Programs

   Friday Night Crafting Club, 6-8 pm.  Bring your project to the Library and take some time for yourself with fellow crafters.  This informal group meets in the Library’s lower level and requires no registration.

   Genealogy, Weds., Oct. 18, 6:45-7:30 pm.  Karen Keeler will be available to help with your ancestry search.  This group meets in the Community Room.  Registration opened Oct. 4.

   Winemaking, Weds., Oct. 18, 6:30 pm.  Nothing feels as satisfying and authentic as making your first batch of wine from fresh grapes.  Learn some of the basic techniques presented by BrewSupply located in Brookfield, CT.  Registration opened Oct. 4.

   Cooking with Chef Stef, Friday, Oct. 20, 6 pm.  Learn how to create the perfect tailgate party.  Chef Stef will demonstrate how to make homemade barbeque sauces, pulled pork sliders and coleslaw. Participants will have the opportunity to sample all items.  Registration opens Oct. 6.

   Henna, Friday, Oct. 20, 5:45 pm.  Participants ages 14 and up are invited to join Jamilah Zebarth and learn about the history and origin of henna.  Zebarth will apply designs for all participants using all natural henna.  Registration opens Oct. 6.

  The Pit and the Pendulum, Monday, Oct. 30, 6:30 pm.  Celebrate Halloween with acclaimed voice actor, Alan Sklar.  Sklar will perform a dramatic reading of Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Pit and the Pendulum.” Sklar has been in the business for over 30 years voicing radio/TV commercials and recording over 200 audiobooks.  Registration opens Oct. 16.

Programs for Children

   Wee Ones, Mondays, 10:30-11 am.  Stories, music and movement with Ms. Janet for children ages 12-23 months.  Monthly registration is required.

   Tales for Twos, Tuesdays, 10:30-11 am.  Stories, music and crafts with Ms. Janet for children ages 24-35 months.   Monthly registration is required.

   More Stories Please, Weds., 1:30-2 pm. pm.  Stories and a craft with Ms. JoAnn for children ages three to five.  Monthly registration is required.

   Drop-In Storytime/Stay and Play, Thursdays, 10:30-11am.  Stories, music and movement for all ages with Ms. JoAnn every Thursday unless school is closed.  No registration is required. 

   Wizards’ School of Magic, Friday, Oct. 6, 1:30 pm.  Children in Grades K-5 are invited to join magician, Tom O’Brien, as he teaches tricks and entertains with his witty, fun approach to the wonderful world of magic.  Registration opens Sept. 22.

   First Saturday Storytime, Sat., Oct. 7, 11-11:30 am.  Children of all ages can join Ms. Hannan for stories and fun.  Registration opens Sept. 23.

   Beardsley Zoo, Thursday, Oct. 26, 10:30 am.  Learn about the wild side of animals and nature.  Examine rare artifacts, meet and touch some amazing animals.  This program is for children in preschool and up.  Registration opens Oct. 12.

   Halloween Craft, Friday, Oct. 27, 4:30 pm.  Create a spooky haunted house for Halloween.  This program is for children in grades K and up.  Registration opens Oct. 13.
