Summer Reading Program

The 2017 Summer Reading Program at New Fairfield Free Public Library will begin Monday, June 26th! Depending upon the age of the child, we have two programs from which to choose.  Birth to Fifth Grade requires reading library materials such as books, magazines, books on cd, Playaways, Bookflix or Launchpads for just one hour in order to receive a raffle ticket for prizes that change weekly.  In the Sixth through Twelfth Grade program, students read an entire library book, book on cd or Playaway in order to receive a raffle ticket for weekly prizes. All personal books may be listed on the Governor’s Reading Challenge log and attached to the library log and sent in together to school in the fall. Our program runs six weeks and ends on August 4th.  Stop by to see what we have to offer!  Call 312-5682 for more information.

Program Donations

In addition to the Friends of the Library subsidizing the Summer Reading Program, we request prize donations from area businesses and community members.  This year those have not been forthcoming.  If you can donate a gift card or child-centered prize, we would be most appreciative. Please stop in or contact Janet or JoAnn at 312-5682.

Adult Programs

Friday Night Crafting Club, 6-8 pm.  Bring your project to the library and take some time for yourself with fellow crafters.  This informal group meets in the library’s lower level and requires no registration.

Easy Flow Yoga, 6:30-7:30 pm, Wednesdays, June 28--July 26.   Flow smoothly and gently into yoga poses designed to rejuvenate and tone the body.  Each class begins and ends with breathing and relaxation techniques that help you on and off the mat in everyday life.  Participants should bring a mat and water bottle.  This session runs through July 26th.  For further information and registration, please call New Fairfield Park and Recreation at 203.312.5633.
